Be Wise About Becoming Spiritual

By: Article Expert

Teachers proliferate their theories to become more spiritual. Many promote forming an alliance with the psychic forces that exist in the world.

An Internet search will locate scores of websites that recommend such activities as:

- Become educated about the primitive religions that were previously practiced in your area
- Become interested in both the spiritual and natural provinces
- Empty or quiet your mind and fill it with truth, stillness, light and bliss
- Develop your comprehension about god, the supernatural and paranormal
- Accept your holiness and grow to be co-creators that resonate with the essence of your special paradise

Thus, getting to know the spiritual forces that work within us and in the cosmos is clearly considered one central characteristic of becoming spiritual. But, what only some recognize is that there are diverse spiritual beings or forces that exist in the universe. And, by merely yielding ourselves to spiritual forces, we will be uncertain about which collection we are uniting ourselves to.

The Holy Scriptures reveal that these distinctive spiritual forces epitomize the true God along with his holy messengers or angles, and the other group is comprised of disloyal Satan with his collection of defiant, iniquitous angels and unclean spirits called demons.

That two well-defined groups of spiritual forces exists is demonstrated in the incident of the prophet Elisha on a mountain in Dothan during one of the many wars between Israel and Syria.

On this occasion when Syria was engaging in hostilities with Israel, the prophet Elisha repeatedly received messages from God regarding the position of the Syrian army. Elisha informed King SaulIsrael's king, numerous times regarding how to steer clear of the traps of the Syrians.

The Syrian king tried to find out the identity of turncoat in the middle of his own soldiers. But, a servant of the king indicated that it was “Elisha, the prophet in Israel, [who] gives the king of Israel news of the words you say even in your bedroom.” 2 Kings 6:12.

There Syrian king then ordered his troops to Dothan, the city in Israel where Elisha lived, in order to capture Elisha.

At daybreak, when the chariots and a great number of the military of Syria had encircled Dothan, Elisha's helper was troubled at the prospect of such a great army. He appealed to Elisha, inquiring what they ought to do.

Elisha answered, “Fear not: for there are more with us than with them.” 2 Kings 6:16. Elisha then prayed that God would permit his servant to see these angelic hosts. When God opened the eyes of Elisha's servant he saw the angelic multitude that sheltered Elisha.

But, the key aspect to bear in mind is that there were two angelic hosts. There was the group that was with Elisha and the group with the Syrians. And these two angelic hosts were hostile toward one another.

Jesus also demonstrated his belief in these two spiritual forces when he spoke with those who believed on him but were not faithful to his teachings. He said, “Ye are of a father-the devil, and the desires of your father ye will to do; he was a man-slayer from the beginning, and in the truth he hath not stood, because there is no truth in him; when one may speak the falsehood, of his own he speaketh, because he is a liar-also his father.” John 8:44.

Therefore, the implication for us is plain. It is true that there are spiritual forces in the universe. However, to simply seek to indiscriminantly have contact with them and become companions with them in the belief that you will grow to be more spiritual is foolish.

Unless you come to the true God in meekness and seek Gods ways, you expose yourself to deceiving spirits and demons who will in time lead you into rebellion against God and his ways. And your end will not be enjoyable.

However, Jesus guarantees that every single one who comes to him would have life. And though they die, Jesus will resurrect them back to life.

Thus, select your spiritual mentors wisely.
