Get Your Press Release Approved Fast

By: Gen Wright

Below are the elements that you need to keep in mind to increase the chances of your press releases being accepted by the publishers so you can generate the kind of attention you or your company needs:

1. Don’t forget to include the date instructions. Publishers will not waste their time calling you just to verify when you would like to have your press release published. Make their jobs a lot easier for them by putting a specific date instructions. You can simply indicate “for immediate release” or for release before or after (date).

2. Use attention-grabbing headline. Avoid making your headlines sound like sales pitches. Yes, you can’t use the phrases “special offers” or “buy our products now”. Remember, your aim here is not to make a sale but to keep your readers updated about newsworthy events happening around your company or your organization. Ensure that your headlines are benefit-driven and very descriptive.

3. Make it easier for people to contact you. Leave as much contact information on your copies. Make sure that you include your name, company name, address, phone number, email address, website URL, and fax number. It would also help if you can indicate the hours you are available to make it much easier for media people to contact you.

4. Create short summary. This should come right after your headline just before you get into the body of your content. Write a couple of sentences that can summarize your press release. Keep it interesting and answer the who, what, why, when, and where questions of your readers to promote further reading.

5. Bank on your content. Make sure that your press release is worth reading. Again, it must be benefit-driven and interesting. Always keep your readers in mind when writing your content and ensure that all the information you include in your press release and all the elements that you are using in writing your news story is highly targeted to their needs, demands, and preferences.

6. Proofread. Before you distribute your press releases, ensure that they are free from any kinds of errors. They must be written in perfect grammar and all the information included must be based on facts. Also, make sure that your ideas flow smoothly and that your content sound highly organized to promote better understanding among your readers.
