By: Marge Reed

One of the primary reasons for people's failure to quit smoking can be traced to ingrained repressed ideas that may be hard to eliminate. Truly, kicking this ruinous and bad habit requires changing one's outlook. Allow me to share 10 ways to quit smoking:
1. Learn about the many, many, many hazards of smoking. A great majority smokers fail to quit because they fail to realize the ill consequences of smoking. Worse, most smokers already know the dangers of smoking, but they deceive themselves to think that they're not real - that is, until they develop the particular ailment or disease.
2. Always remember that you're not immune from ailments and diseases. You're just human. You're no alien from a dead world. Your system is fragile to wear and tear, and smoking balloons that percentage a dozen fold. You're not exempt from the dangers of smoking. You're no different from everybody: you're only human.
3. Tell yourself that you are stronger than how you currently are. If you want to, you won't have to surrender to the smallest inclination to smoke. If someone asks you to jump in front of a rampaging herd of elephants, will you? You're not an idiot, right? So, you're not stupid enough to waste 7 minutes of your life with every smoke.
4. Stop treating a cigarette as a reward. It never is.
5. Know that smoking doesn't make you hip. Nowadays, when people would rather enjoy great health and live a long life, smokers are viewed with scorn.
6. Remember that though smoking may seem to help you calm down, it will come with a exorbitant price. The dangers of smoking are too dire to ignore. Would you rather enjoy a few stress-free minutes at the price of a lot of years deducted from your life?
7. There's no rule that says you should smoke after eating. Smoking won't eliminate the taste of food within your mouth. Want to remove such? Try brushing your teeth.
8. Realize that when you smoke in communal area, you're possibly affecting the health of anyone near you. Second hand smoke is just as unsafe as the smoke you inhale. When you smoke in public, you are comparable to a walking personification of disease.
9. Realize that smoking doesn't help you shed weight. Cigarettes burn your throat, not reduce calories.
10. Remember that smoking won't help you concentrate at work. It's just a fallacy. Everything depends on you and not what you take in.
