  • Advice To Avoid A Failing Marriage  By : Anna Shouss
Often, as marriages go through difficulties it can become harder to concentrate on the good times than on the struggles. Often, both of you create expectations of each other that can cause disappointment and conflict if they're not met, especially in a failing marriage. The more that conflict displaces agreement in your marriage, the higher the chances are that you may end up divorcing your spouse.

When your marriage is struggling, it may be helpful to remember what in your relationship is important. Make a mental list of those qualities that are noteworthy in your marriage, even if they occur irregularly. Remember what attracted you to your spouse in the first place. When things get trying, you can refer back to these memories and special things to help you make it through--but only if you take a moment to remember them.

Very often, confronting the issues that are destroying the relationship that will be the most complicated part of saving a failing marriage. Although foolish, many couples still believe that by ignoring their problems long enough, they will go away after a time. In reality, it is imperative that you bring those issues out into the open so they can be handled. This may involve you asking your spouse questions about what they would like to see different in your lives. Be willing to consider their ideas and make sure that you're listening.

Once you've discovered the reasons for your conflicts, you can start evaluating different options. At this point, you are being called on to choose whether you are capable of making your situation better. You will have to sacrifice and choose some hard compromises. You should be proactive so that you're the one to initiate the first move. By choosing to act first, you show your spouse that you are prepared to do what it takes to salvage your failing marriage.

Having a sound marriage is more than just dealing with conflicts. The romance and passion that brought the both of you together in the beginning has been lost in the shuffle between the routines of work and household maintenance. If you want to have a good chance of saving that failing marriage, then you should put in the time to revitalize your romance. You have to be creative and come up with great ideas to bring you closer together. You can use surprises, dates, and romantic getaways to nurture the excitement back into your marriage.

If you and your spouse are in a stressful point in your lives, honesty and communication are even more important. This doesn't mean that it's easy to talk when the tension is strong, but you must try to keep focused. You will have to share feelings and ideas with your spouse as you work on your marriage.

In order to save a failing marriage, it takes determination and lots of effort to make it happen. When you love your spouse, there shouldn't be any reason why you can't make this happen. Those barriers that you've built up around yourselves can be demolished if you're open about conflicts and you're willing to change the routine.

  • Can Friendships Extend Your Life?  By : Ken Keis
As a publisher of assessments, I am always looking for the next trend or tool we can offer our clients. Not long ago, I was completing an online health assessment that claimed -- based on your lifestyle, health practices, and background -- to predict your life expectancy. Well, that piqued my curiosity.

I was not surprised to see many of the common factors we all acknowledge, such as smoking, lack of exercise, and eating platefuls of my favorite Hungarian Salami -- but I never guessed what was next. More beneficial than sufficient sleep and moderate exercise was this: the companionship of close friends. This item alone would significantly increase my life expectancy. I’m not talking about a month or two; the difference was calculated at several years, depending on my level of active friendships.
